What Is the Difference Between Roller Print and Rotary Print?

2023-07-27

Textile printing is an important manufacturing process that allows us to create a variety of colorful and beautiful patterns and images on fabrics. Whereas in textile printing, roll printing and rotary printing are widely used. So, what is roller printing and rotary printing? What is the difference between them?

Roller Printing

Roller printing, also known as Flat Bed Printing, is a common textile printing technique. In cylinder printing, the print design is engraved on the surface of a rubber printing cylinder, and fabric is placed over the cylinder. As the cylinder turns, the pattern on the printing cylinder is transferred to the fabric, forming the desired pattern. This printing method is suitable for a variety of fiber and textile materials.

The main features of roller printing are as follows:

1. Highly automated: Roller printing can achieve a highly automated production process by using advanced automation equipment and systems, improving production efficiency and reducing labor costs.

2. High precision: Roller printing gives high-precision printing control, which can realize complex and detailed patterns and precise color matching.

3. Multi-color printing: Roller printing can realize multi-color printing. By using different rollers and printing units, multiple colors can be printed on the same cloth at the same time.

Rotary Print

Rotary printing is another common textile printing technique. Unlike roller printing, rotary printing uses a printing press that rotates. In rotary printing, a complete loop is formed between the fabric and the printing cylinder, and as the cylinder rotates, the pattern on the printing cylinder is transferred directly to the fabric.

The main features of rotary printing are as follows:

1. High-speed production: Rotary Printing Machines usually have the ability to run at high speed, which can complete a large number of printing jobs in a short time and improve production efficiency.

2. One-time multi-color printing: Rotary printing machines are usually equipped with multiple printing cylinders, which can realize one-time multi-color printing and print multiple colors and patterns at the same time.

3. Suitable for mass production: Due to the advantages of high-speed production and multi-color printing, rotary printing is suitable for large-scale, high-volume textile printing production.

To sum up, cylinder printing and rotary printing are the two main printing technologies in textile printing. Roller printing transfers the printed pattern to the fabric through a rubber printing cylinder, which is characterized by high automation and high precision.
